Ever since 1989, when Ruth Harris began making art quilts, she dreamt about coordinating a traveling exhibit, but a theme for an exhibit eluded her. Her world changed, however, in 2002, when her daughter Chantelle Cory, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Facing this unpredictable, life-long illness with her, Ruth decided they needed a long-term project to work on together—hence a traveling art quilt exhibit was born.
The “Women of Biblical Proportion” exhibit was organized and debuted January 2004 and began its tour. The companion exhibit “Men of Biblical Proportion” was curated next and premiered October 2005. They will tour together and separately through December 2007, exhibiting in quilt shows, churches, museums and galleries throughout the country. See the schedules for “Women of Biblical Proportion” and “Men of Biblical Proportion.”
CD-ROM of each exhibit, including photos, quilts stories, and artists’ biographies are available for purchase through this site. Profits from the CD-ROM and show fees are donated to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society to support the fight against this devastating disease. Booking information is also available on this site.
